Numbers at risk

As the risk set shrinks in the tail, the KM curve and its confidence band become less precise.

Censoring thins the risk set, it does not remove information cheaply
Additional censoring does not bias the KM estimator (censoring here is independent of prognosis), but it widens the confidence band by shrinking the effective sample size, especially late in follow-up where the risk set is already small.
