Overlap and distance metrics disagree by design
A pure translation can preserve Dice almost exactly while moving every boundary point, driving Hausdorff up. A pure dilation preserves position but inflates volume, driving Dice/Jaccard down while leaving Hausdorff small. Reporting a single number hides whichever failure mode it is insensitive to — try to find a perturbation with high Dice but high Hausdorff distance.
